After Soda Springs we drove to Truckee and caught #5 going into the station before #6. I had to turn off the video or it would have exceeded the ten minute limit, so it jumps in a couple of places.

the horn on #6 sounded really wierd, it sort of gobbled like it was under water
I do but.
1. there usally late.
2. It’s always somewhere you can’t drive to.
There is no usual meet spot. go to Amtrak and download the timetables and you can see where they would be close together (assuming they are on time)
Also…is this where they usally meet. I can’t find the dang spot where they meet at all when Im up there.
That doesn’t look like a soreader in the backround, it looks more like a snow plow. I’ve never seen a plow there, just the spreaders and rotarys.
Because some passengers are in coach and some are in sleepers. This is called a “double spot” because the Diner and Lounge cars separate the two sections
why did #6 stop twice?
Nice vid. I have taken vids of 5 & 6 in Truckee many times over the years.
Conversation starts at 4:59 mark with “318″. The conversation is between trains and 5 says “Looking good on the inside six” then the hawk noises and then someone replies, “Don’t bet the house on that Don.”
Curious: what was the hawk noise exchanged between, I believe, #5 and the dispatcher, as well as the phrase, “I built a house on that one” (or so it sounds like)?
