I work for a construction company (field and office) and I do not know what to give my boss (general contractor) and the secretary at the office without spending to much.

My husband and I would like to give a close friend a nice gift for helping us with a major home remodeling project. He and his wife are recently married and he has probably spent about 60 hours working at our house. I would like it to be a nice gift for both of them since his wife has allowed him to spend so much time at our house!

Can a handyman be responsible for his own tax reporting? Or must he provide his social security number or tax ID to every client he has.
